Wakemed Health & Hospitals
WakeMed has a rapidly growing and diverse patient population. After English, the most commonly spoken language among patients is Spanish, followed by Arabic and Chinese. In addition to LEP patients, WakeMed also serves patients who communicate through American Sign Language.
Banner Health was facing several challenges with its existing language service program. One specific issue it faced was standardizing the program across all of its facilities to ensure that communication between a patient and provider was clear and effective.
